After seeing Symbian Anna as an update for Symbian^3, now an update awaits – Symbian Belle. This update focuses on usage of the new Nokia font called Nokia Pure, and minimizing space of the system area. Okay, let’s go through it one by one…
The Nokia Pure Font
Nokia pure, somewhat for purity according to Nokia’s announcement several weeks ago. This font intended for a minimalistic typography, and for beauty purposes. You can see differences on it and the previous one, Nokia Sans:
Nokia Pure is the current official font of Nokia after using Nokia Sans for more than 6 years. It’s unknown that it’ll really applied into Symbian Belle. Because some screenshots don’t include Nokia Pure font, and not using the Pure one.![]()
The List Icons and Toolbar Icons
The List icons are common from the first Symbian S60 until Symbian Anna, but the Toolbar icons are something new. When they’re available in the current interface, this change the softkey bar into Toolbar icons. The design is somewhat similar by the iOS.
The Top Panel
Symbian Belle minimizes its top panel. Slimmer and gives more space.
Evolvement of Symbian S60 top panels time to time
If you take a look on the new top panel…
Is it similar like this?
iOS
Or?
Android
Lol, you can see which one is similar and what is the minor difference.
Where’s Symbian^4?
Somewhat Nokia already abandoned Symbian^4. Just it. In the beginning of 2009 it says it will hit the market in 2011, and we got Symbian Anna now, and Nokia already signing a joint with Microsoft in 2011 too to use Windows Phone 7 in 2012 onwards. So ironic.
