Yes, this is a big leap on IE9 (so called big leap, I always said this on previous reviews, whatever). Microsoft has improved some features on this version. HTML5 support, faster JScript engine and New Interface.
This browser is the largest of user using it. But it’s just Microsoft shipped this browser to the OS and Windows is also having the largest market share. Okay, I only have a little review here but there is something interesting here. You’ll know later, so keep on this post and make sure you read it to the end.
Performance
Yes, I feel that this browser loads faster. Nice one. Then, I still see some ‘not satisfactory’ on this browser. Yes, the capability to round some places, like this:
This what I’m not satisfied with. The top is rendered with Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8, than Internet Explorer 9 Beta on the bottom. Compare it by yourself.
About the Acid3 Test, It’s good enough, almost perfect: 95/100.
Acid3 Test
Notable Feature
Yes, this is the most interesting part on IE9, but if you Install it on Windows 7. You can pin a tab to the taskbar and make it a web app. Similar on what Google and Mozilla do.
Pinning
Jumplist Task for a specific website after pinned.
Interesting? Okay I will also tell you how to do it, as cited from http://www.technospot.net/blogs/ie-9-how-to-make-the-jumplist-menu-for-websites/. Though, I still can’t applied it on my blog. If there is anyone know how to do it on Blogspot platform, you can share to me.
Tags to create jumplist :
Website Name :
<meta name=”application-name” content=”Facebook”/>
Application Tool Tip :
<meta name=”msapplication-tooltip” content=”Start the Facebook App”/>
Main URl / Your websites root domain:
<meta name=”msapplication-starturl” content=”/”/>
Best views size / resolution for your website
<meta name=”msapplication-window” content=”width=800;height=600″/>
Create Tasks in Jump Menu : ( Max 5 )
Below are the tasks created for Facebook. When you use the tag msapplication-task it will by default place them under task. Compare the tags with the image above.
<meta name=”msapplication-task” content=”name=News;action-uri=/home.php?sk=nf;icon-uri=/images/icons/app/news.ico”/>
<meta name=”msapplication-task” content=”name=Messages;action-uri=/home.php?sk=inbox;icon-uri=/images/icons/app/messages.ico”/>
<meta name=”msapplication-task” content=”name=Events;action-uri=/home.php?sk=events;icon-uri=/images/icons/app/events.ico”/>
<meta name=”msapplication-task” content=”name=Friends;action-uri=/home.php?sk=ru;icon-uri=/images/icons/app/friends.ico”/>
Make sure you give proper name in the content attribute of the Application Name Tag. This will appear on Jumplist. The first meta tag has 2 attributes, name and content. The name attribute should have the value “application-name” the content attribute should contain the name of the website as you want it to appear on the JumpList.
I created it for this website but for some reason the icons don’t work. Will let you know more in details later but this guide gives you a kick start. You can read more about these tags here
So, if you’re interested, make sure you have Windows 7 or Windows Vista SP2 with platform update.
